Message from College Principal : Dr SZ Mthembu

I am pleased to welcome you to KwaZulu-Natal College of Nursing (KZNCN) website.

In line with the department of health’s vision, the KZNCN aspire to empower nursing students from all the KwaZulu-Natal communities, including the deep rural areas and strive to provide quality, accessible and affordable undergraduate and post-graduate nursing education. Through our programmes, we endeavour to produce well prepared generalist and specialist nurse clinicians and scholars who will be able to collectively enhance individual, family and population-based healthcare in a culturally diverse society.

The ultimate goal of KZNCN is to produce nurses who are well-rounded and suitably prepared to take their place in the ever so dynamic health environment. We have a strong commitment in instilling the culture of life-long learning by ensuring that our students become confident and independent self-directed learners who have the skills and knowledge to succeed at our Campuses and beyond.

As a College within the department, we pride ourselves with the high standards and supportive learning environment where our students’ success and competencies are our overriding goals. The College provides quality educational experiences, underpinned with theoretical and practical facilitation for knowledge construction that ensures our students are ready for the world of work within the health fraternity. Our dedicated academic and administrative support employees are always ready to provide cognitive coaching and scaffolding to students every step of the way, including academic and psycho-social support and guidance. This is demonstrated by the levels of academic achievements gained by our students.
