Feedback from Occupational Therapist ( Community Service)

My experience as an Occupational Therapist in my community service year which started in March 2005 and will end in March 2006 has been holistic thus far.

I have had adequate experience in the different wards with different diagnoses such as medical, paediatric, orthopaedic and different clinics such as C.V.A and Cerebral Palsy.

I have had sufficient experience in writing and performing work assessments and paediatric (learning disability) assessment.

I spend 40% of my working time providing community service in the various clinics such as Starwood, KwaMashu Poly Clinic and at Inanda A Newtown where we provide in-service to nursing staff, assess and treat patients around the clinic area. I also gained experience in identifying patients who need walking aids and wheel chairs.

The R.K.Khan Hospital has created a great learning experience for me in my community service thus far and I recommend it as a good learning environment as well as experience for any occupational therapist.
