IMCI

  • IMCI (Integrated Management of Childhood Illness) is an essential tool for the effective care of sick children at the primary level. It is often viewed as a basic programme for use by nurses in our clinics and community health centres. It is more than this. It is child-centred, and enables all health workers to develop skills at assessing, classifying and managing children in a focussed and life-saving way.
We have included the IMCI Chart Book in this resource package in an attempt to bridge the gap between nurses and doctors as well as between clinics, community health centres and hospitals.
If you find the IMCI programme exciting please try to attend an IMCI course for doctors o nurses. We hold these courses on an ongoing basis throughout the year.
