| The Department of Health took part in the Durban Virginia Air Show
which was held on the 16th July 2011. The initiative for participating
in this event was to inform the public of the services that the
Department of Health and the Air Ambulance Services has to offer. Over ten thousand people were expected to visit the show and to be entertained by the pilots who were flying their planes and displaying their skills and beautiful aircrafts. During the course of the day the Department of Health exhibition was visited by members of the public who were interested to see what the Department of Health had to offer. The public was told how the Department of Health got to fly to remote areas to save lives. Children visiting the exhibition were allowed onto the Helicopter and Fixed Wing and demonstrations were done on how the aircrafts worked. The Department of Health’s exhibition also included health screening and the public were informed about Healthy Lifestyle initiatives, this included handing out flyers, and other information. This was truly a great experience for the community and for the staff that were present on the day. This Show takes place every year and we hope that we will have a greater turnout and involvement next year. |
