Achievements of the Programme (in the last financial year)
- Reach Every District (RED) Strategy and Data Quality Self Assessment
have been introduced to 9 districts.
- eThekwini and Ilembe districts have shown good improvement in their
immunisation coverage from the time these strategies were introduced.
Targets for current financial year
- 90% coverage for all immunisation coverage
- AFP detection rate 2 : 100 000 of the population under 15 years
- Suspected measles cases detection rate 2 : 100 000 of the general
population.
- New vaccines i.e. Rotavirus vaccine and Pneumococcal conjugate
vaccine are to be added to programme, implementation will be in April
2009.
