The Department of Family Medicine is based at Northdale hospital,
Pietermaritzburg and is involved in the provision of District
Level services the training and development of doctors at district
level. It also provides support for Primary Health Care. The Head of Department and Chief Specialist is Prof. MH Cassimjee and the Principal Specialist is Dr Mergan Naidoo
