The first query brings the user to a blank box for the selection of the helath condition of interest.
A click allows the user to select the health conditions that appear in alphabetical order. After the selection of the health condition, a table appears with the selected health condition on the first row (i.e. TB) while the columns of the tables provide the followings:
  1. The first column is the study ID that can be ignored.
  2. The second column is the reference code of the study and clicking on it a link allows the user to get the details of the study.
  3. The third column is the type of estimate which is reported in the following order: incidence, prevalence, mortality, other.
  4. The fourth column provides the value for the type of estimate. For example, 'incidence 100,000 population' and a value of 413 indicate that the health condition (i.e. TB) has an incidence for TB of 413 per 100,000.
  5. The fifth column indicates the province to which the reference refers to, with KZN appearing first (in case there are estimates for KZN) followed by the other provinces. If KZN does not appear, it means there are no estimates for KZN.
  6. After the name of the province, the sixth column indicates if the estimate is representative of the whole province or a district of that province or an area smaller than a district (subdistrict).
  7. The next column is the reference year.
  8. The following column is the race for which the estimate is valid. For example if a study was carried out on a specific ethnic group the race will be 'African', asian, white, mixed while if the study was representative of the wole population 'all ethnic groups' appear.
  9. The last two columns are for the gender to which the estimate refers to and to any note giving extra information.
In the second query after the selection of the estimate of interest (i.e. incidence 100,000 population) the table shows the records available with such estimate. The columns are the same as in query one with the first row is the estimate of interest while the health conditions available for the estimate of interest are in the third column. The health conditions are in alphabetical order.

The third query allows to select the Province After the selection of the province, a very long table appears on all health conditions available for the province. In this interactive database it is not yet possible to carry out a second selection to brake down the long table into 'Province' (first selection) and 'Health Conditions' (second selection) but this will be worked out in a future version of the database. The long table is similar to the query 1 with the exception of the first line where the selected Province (i.e. KZN) appears and the third column where the health condition (i.e. disease) appears. The health conditions are in alphabetical order, therefore to find TB the table should be scrolled down till TB is found. For each health condition the type of estimate, the value etc. have the same meaning of the tables produced in query 1.

Other notes

At the top of the page produced by the query there is one selection to go back to the last query, but to reactivate the query the user has to key F5 or refresh icon.
