The Department of Health Biggest Win (Gold Award) in the KwaZulu-Natal Premier's Service Excellence Awards
The Department of Health in KwaZulu-Natal has done it again by winning a gold
award during the Premier’s Service Excellence Awards, which took place on the
05th of July 2012 in International Convention Centre, Durban. The Department was
the overall winner, leading all Departments who participated.
Manguzi hospital
in Umkhanyakude District received the gold award. In 2005 the Department through
Grey’s hospital in Umgungundlovu District won the same award.
Through sheer dedication, compassion and hard work; Manguzi hospital saw itself
winning such a prestigious award. This hospital has consistently displayed and
demonstrated an attitude of tenacity to achieve the required best practice
standards according to Batho Pele Principles, Patients’ Rights, Citizens’
Charter and Service Commitment Charter. This success of Manguzi hospital
emanates from the institutionalized culture of collaboration amongst
stakeholders.
The achievement of Manguzi hospital was graced by the presence of MEC for Health
Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo and HOD Dr Sibongile Zungu whose leadership is well
acknowledged in the delivery of public health care services in the Province. MEC
and HOD were indeed honoured by this achievement of the Department. The
Department is confident that with the level of dedication and commitment in the
delivery of quality health care, it will continue to win more awards in the
future.
