Treating Adult Patients with Medical Conditions


Clinic / Unit Referral Criteria

Endocrine Clinic

Any patient with an endocrine disorder e.g. Pituitary problem, adrenal gland problem, thyroid glad problem, bone abnormalities or growth abnormalities.

The patient must be referred with a detailed referral letter, all necessary blood results and other special investigations e.g. X-rays attached.  An appropriate appointment date will then be given.

Lipid Clinic

Cholesterol more than 7 and/or triglyceride more than 3, not responding to 10 mg daily of atorvastatin.

The patient must be referred with a detailed referral letter, all necessary blood results including a recent lipogram attached.  An appropriate appointment date will then be given.

Ward H1 - Oncology

  1. Febrile neutropaenia for protective isolation.
  2. Patients with complicating medical conditions needing oncotherapy.
  3. Staging which cannot be done as an outpatient or at base hospital.
  4. Patients requiring nursing care.
  5. Lymphoma and myeloproliferative patients for bone marrow.

Referral criteria to respiratory unit Ward H1

  1. Severe asthma/steroid dependant asthma.
  2. Poorly controlled / sever COPD.
  3. Interstitial lung disease.
  4. Occupational lung disease.
  5. Diffuse pulmonary infiltrates of unknown aetiology.
  6. Sarcoidosis.
  7. Suspected pulmonary non benign lesion.
  8. Non resolving / slowly resolving pneumonia.
  9. Pulmonary vascular disease.
  10. Sleep apnoea.
