Doctors

The hospital is at present (February 2007) staffed with 12 doctors: the Medical Manager, 3 chief medical officers, 1 principal medical officer, 3 senior medical officer, 1 medical officer  and 3 community service doctors. Enquiries are always welcome for medical officer posts. The on-call roster is shared amongst all the doctors, with a doctor on first call and one on second call each night. More experienced doctors back-up the less experienced in the roster. There are two routine theatre sessions each week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, enabling most cases to be performed during well-supported sessions.

Dr ‘Kees’ Heese is responsible for supporting 10 clinics and three mobile teams. At present our commitment is expanding, with increasingly frequent visits to the clinics. Dr Heese is also forensically trained and performs most of the post-mortems for the police.

Dr Hamilton provides weekly eye clinics and has a list for cataract removals in theatre on Wednesdays.

There are twice weekly education meetings for which CPD points are awarded. The local hospitals have a combined education meeting every three months rotating between hospitals.
