From 5-9 February 2007, three member of the
Children’s HIV Association of the United Kingdom and Ireland (CHIVA)
visited Mosvold Hospital to provide advice, education and support in
the treatment of children infected with HIV. The visitors were Jason
Warriner, specialist nurse at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital, London,
Rebecca Stevenson, Paediatric Dietician at King’s College Hospital,
London, and Dr Andy Prendergast, Paediatrician, Great Ormond Street
Hospital, London. One of the messages imparted to the medical staff
was that children with HIV are mostly progressing to AIDS in the
first year of life, and that there is a case for early initiation of
ARVs in most HIV-infected children
