We are a dynamic rehabilitation team of three permanent therapists and two assistants based at Mosvold Hospital and serving the greater Ingwavuma area.

The therapy department consists of four different disciplines: community rehabilitation facilitators, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and a speech therapist. We work as one department and gain skills from one another to become true multidisciplinary therapists.

Therapy department provides services to hospital in- and out-patients, the 10 residential clinics and some bush clinics in the community on a monthly basis. The following clinics are run monthly at the hospital: 3 therapy and stimulation groups for children with Cerebral Palsy, 1 Toddler/Developmental Delayed group, an Asthma clinic for monitoring and treatment of all Asthma patients and 2 Arthritis exercise groups. A further 2 CP groups and 9 Arthritis groups are run at the clinics in the community. A number of specialists also run monthly clinics in therapy department including a Paediatrician, Plastic Surgeon, Orthotist and Prosthetics.

We also do home visits in conjunction with the Nompilo’s (Community Health Workers) and Home Based Care teams as the need is identified in their areas. Further we are involved in setting up and delivering treatment at Sisizakele Special School, which currently has 40 learners with physical and mental disabilities.
