Visit by family of Torrey Mosvold, after whom the hospital is named.

On 12-13 October 2003, Mosvold Hospital was joyfully and emotionally reunited with the family from whom the hospital received its name. The Mosvold name, which had seemed remote (and was forever being pronounced 'Mosveld' in telephone conversations), burst into life with the visit of Mr Martin Mosvold, his wife Astri and son Torrey, the first visit from a member of the family for more than 40 years. Martin Mosvold is the son of Torrey (the elder) who was the benefactor of the 50 bed hospital completed in 1952. Torrey Mosvold died in 1995.

The Mosvolds are from Norway and now living in Texas, USA. As Mr Mosvold said, now that they have come, the question they are asking, is why they did not come before. The Mosvolds were brought to the hospital by Joe and Olga Reimer, of the Evangelical Alliance Mission, who have previously lived and worked at the hospital. After a service at the Ingwavuma Evangelical Church, the family met staff at a braai in the evening, listened to Mosvold Hospital Choir, and received a ceremonial welcome the next morning led by Miss BL Myeni, the Hospital Manager, followed by a tour of the hospital and Ingwavuma.
