Newtown Community Health Centre is situated at Inanda Newtown A (Ward 55). It was officially opened in 1985, and was made to cater for only 200 patients then. Over the years with increasing health demands the existing space was overfull. In 2005 it was commissioned to be a CHC, the CEO, Finance & Systems Manager, Chief Human Resources Officer, Nursing and Medical Manager were appointed to run a full functioning CHC.
In 2008 the institution was accredited to roll –out ARV programme. The pharmacy was also accredited in 2010 for compliant premises to conduct trainings and tutorship certificate. Currently we are serving a population of 10300. Our catchment area is ward 42, ward 44, ward, 55 and ward 108
