Admission
The Doctor will admit you to a specific ward. Please report to the admitting clerks in
OPD for admission. A member of staff or a porter will
accompany you to the ward. As our hospital may at times be
extremely busy, we apologise for any delay in admission and ask you for your
patience and understanding should this occur. Please note that a legal guardian must
accompany patients under the age of 18 if a written consent is required for
anaesthetic or medical procedure.
Financial Information
Hospital bills can be paid by two methods, either cash or medical aid cards.
The fees manual which comes out annually determines Ngwelezana Hospital bills.
Medical Aids Schemes are recognized but
with verification cheques. Unfortunately we
have no facilities available for Credit cards
Ward Admission
On admission in the ward you will be fully orientated. A staff member will take you to your
bed. Please report to the Unit Manager any
dissatisfaction as far as treatment is concerned. Remember NO smoking is allowed in
the wards
Valuables
You are free to use your own sleeping
attire but the Hospital attire is also available. Clothes will be kitted in the kit room
for the safe keeping. Valuables i.e. Money, car keys, ID
documents etc shall be kept in the Hospital safe. The security officers will care for your
car. Firearms will be kept in the security
office, NO firearms are allowed on the hospital premises.
Telephone Calls
The staff will convey all telephone messages received to you. Telephones are for the use by personnel
only but patient calls may be made on special request. Telephone booths are available all around
the Hospital. Cellular phones may be brought into the
Hospital at patients own risk, note there are areas where the use of cell phones
is not permitted e.g. Critical Care Units, Theatre etc.
Ward Routine
Security
Security personnel are found distributed on the hospital premises. They are there for your safety and the
security of the hospital
Discharge
The Doctor will approve your discharge. Pass out is permitted by the Doctor. Remember to take all your personal
belongings. A nurse will accompany you to teh pharmacy
for your medication You are requested to go to the discharge
office for finalization of discharge and fees.
