Northdale Hospital has embarked on a project called Operation Decongestion

Northdale Hospital has forged links with faith based organization where chronic patients can conveniently collect their medication. This initiative is aimed at decongesting facilities which will also reduce the waiting time to less then 20 minutes. Patients are informed about the various alternate pick up points at their local clinics, Northdale hospital Outpatient department and pharmacy. These patients then inform the nursing staff, the Doctor or the Pharmacist to register for their point of collection

A pharmacy assistant from Northdale Hospital transports the patient’s medicines to the requested medication pick up point e.g. a church. At the faith based organization volunteers assist the pharmacist with the distribution of medication.

To date the Andhra Sabha, Solid Rock Global Ministries and New Birth Ministries have entered into a partnership with Northdale. The Hospital intends to expand the project to a number of faith based organizations in the area thus decongesting the hospital and surrounding clinics. This initiative is being driven by Mr. Sugen Pillay (A.N.M PHC) and Miss Matshepo Molefe (Pharmacy Manager).
