On Monday the 19th September 2011 the KZN Department of Health-Oral Health
component in conjunction with Colgate Palmolive held an oral health initiative
at Ndlelayabasha Primary school. This one day event took place at about 9h00 am
in the chilly Willow fountain school and was attended by a delegation from KZN
Health and the Head of KZN Oral health Dr. J Mthethwa in the KZN Department of
Health. The pupils were given an informative talk by Dr. Mthethwa who opened the event and gave the purpose of the day. The talk was mainly on oral hygiene and how to brush and floss in order to eliminate oral bacteria, the joyous kids were later asked questions based on the talk Dr. Mthethwa had given and the answers they gave proved Mthethwa’s talk was fruitful. As the day progressed Oral hygienist Veena Dessibrook from Northdale Hospital and Usha Ramlal from Edendale Hospital
saw some 300 school pupils from grade R to 3 being screened for oral hygiene and
given a goody bag which included a soft tooth brush and a Colgate tooth paste. |
