AIDS Campaign Open Day |

The R.K.Khan Outreach Clinic launched its first Aids campaign and as a bonus
celebrated its first birthday as well. Patients, feeder clinics, community, non-
governmental and faith-based organizations were invited. Mr. Roger Phili, Deputy
Manager ARV graced our function as a guest speaker with a message of
encouragement, support and praise. The ARV Clinic has made dramatic steps over the last year. To date we have screened 5960 HIV positive patients and 1378 patients are on various stages of the ARV Programme. Unfortunately, 48 patients have died after treatment had been initiated. A two- hour programme featured messages from the guest speaker, the RHRU, and support staff, dance items from the Mbongeni Academy Stable Theatre, humorous sketches by the clinic staff. As much as this was a day of fun and enjoyed by all present, the message was delivered with sincerity. |

With the help of the ARV district office, Management of the Hospital and the RHRU, our ARV team has grown in terms of numbers, experience and strength. The team spirit that exists has strengthened despite the challenges staff encounter both in terms of the huge HIV/AIDS pandemic and the challenge in terms of limited resources. The team has shown commitment and has brought success in the fight against AIDS. Our aim is education, prevention, early detection and treatment. We openly invite suggestions and involvement in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Our outreach programmes require development with the involvement of support groups. The huge success of our function has been through the efforts and team- work of the Outreach staff, hospital personnel, sponsors and supporters. Thank you from the Management.
