Take a girl child to work - 25 August 2005
| Two high schools in the vicinity of the hospital were targeted for our very
first project. 10(ten) eager learners from the Witteklip and Westcliffe High
Schools spent a day at the R.K.Khan Hospital. Each learner was assigned to a
mentor (staff member) in the various departments.
Learners who had no inclinations towards a health career were pleasantly surprised that the health sector has so much to offer in terms of the different professions, example qualifications in Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics and Radiology. They have acknowledged that this was a useful exercise and that they have gained
valuable insight into careers in the health sector and thanked the Department of
Health for the opportunity. |
