Background Dr. Lindiwe Simelane was born in KwaZulu Natal, Durban. She is a single mother with a grandson. Qualifications She completed her Matric at St. Francis College, Marianhill. She Completed a BSc. Degree at University of Fort Hare in 1975. She also completed a University Education Diploma at University of Zululand in 1976. She completed her BSc. Human Biology and MBChB at the university of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. Work History She has taught Science subjects in High School in Swaziland. She has worked in various Health facilities in Swaziland, Bophuthatswana and KwaZulu-Natal. She was promoted to Medical Superintendent, then Senior Medical Superintendent at Grey's Hospital. In October 2000 she was promoted to Director: Emergency Medical Rescue Services to facilitate transformation of the Service. In March 2004, she was promoted to Chief Director: EMRS, Critical Care, Patient transport and Disaster Management. With the realignment of the Health Services Cluster, she is now the General Manager for the District Cluster Zululand, Uthungulu and Umkhanyakude in North-Eastern KwaZulu-Natal. |
