Umgeni hospital celebrated with a Spring Festival

For the first time, the Occupational Therapy Department organized THE SPRING FESTIVAL event for the Umgeni Hospital Patients. The Spring Festival was aimed at creating an environment whereby Patients from different wards will socialize, improve self esteem ,and enjoy themselves. Preparations for the event were led by the OT Department with the help from other Departments . This was done to orientate the Patients about the different seasons of the year and to create a Therapeutic environment. The funding came from the Recreational Fund as authorized by the Hospital Management. The Recreational Fund is a fund that is set aside for different activities that are held by the Hospital throughout the year. This function took place in the Hospital Recreation Hall where different decorations were set so as to emphasize the spirit of Spring . The function started at 10am and was held throughout the day. Patients had a lot of fun while involved in activities such as wheel chair race competition ,couple dance competition ,there was even a Gents vs Ladies dance competition. The winners of these competition were given some prizes by the OT Department Staff. This was truly an UNFORGETABLE DAY for the UMGENI PATIENTS
