Toy Story visits Umgeni Hospital
| On Wednesday 15 December 2004, the hospital’s wards had their Christmas parties
organized by the wards’ staff, it soon became apparent that it was going to be
the most memorable day in the patients lives as the Toy Story/ East Coast Radio
team blessed the day by a surprise visit. The team led by Debbie Schreuder gave out a lot of gifts to the patients ranging from dolls, teddy bears, toys, etc. The whole hospital was buzzing it became evident that even though a certain portion of patients permanently stay at the hospital there are people from the outside world like the Toy Story/ East Coast Radio who still consider the mentally retarded people as the significant part of the society. The patients were really overwhelmed by what they were seeing. “Today has been
the highlight of all the places I have visited I would really love to be part of
the contributors who put colour into the Umgeni hospital this is definitely not
my last trip here” Debbie said. This day is definitely going to be one of the
most memorable parties ever to be experienced by the patients. |
