Umzinyathi Health District - Achievements

  • CCMDD Symposium 2017
  • District rolled out CCMDD in 72 facilities. By June 2018 a total number of patients enrolled is 113.60% (73,086), the district exceeded the annual target. Total number of Pick up Points is 338 including external ones.
  • NHI Mobile vehicles – Eye, Dental, and Mobile Trucks which are fully equipped.
  • Connectivity completed in all fixed PHC facilities to improve access HPRS, DHIS, emails, intranet, receive all IT program in line with NHI.
  • Ward Based Outreach team caravans x 4
  • Human Milk Bank Dundee Hospital launch 2017
  • Ideal Clinic; 8 Platinum Clinic Status, 28 Gold Status, 16 Silver Status in 2017

Accolades Nquthu sub district

  • CJM Hospital MEC award for National Core Standards
  • Charles Johnson Memorial Hospital won gold on national core standards in 2014/2015
  • Two clinics that performed well on Ideal Clinic realization and maintenance Hlathi Dam and Mkhonjane clinic having achieved gold status respectively, both Operational managers were entered as best public servants of the year in the PSEA 2016/2017.
  • Operational Manager for Hlathi Dam won Gold the First prize for Best Public Servant of the year and Operational manager for Mkhonjane clinic won the Second prize Silver as the Best Public Servant of the year.
  • Mkhonjane and Hlathi Dam Clinics were requested by the Provincial office to enter the 4th National Batho Pele awards operational manager received silver in category of best public servant of the year nationally.

Accolades Msinga sub district

  • Church of Scotland Hospital 2nd place in the Category National Core Standards District Hospital & Cwaka Clinic 3rd place in the Category Best Performance Ideal Clinic Realization in Maintenance at MEC Awards 2018
  • Commenced the community based model approach which has put Umzinyathi on the map and is currently being rolled out throughout the Province.

Accolades - Endumeni sub district

  • Umzinyashana Community and Dundee SAPS were awarded for the humanity shown towards the bravery and team spirit whilst searching for the body of the late Dr. S Ncube who lost his life during the floods which attacked Umzinyathi early in 2018
  • • Mr. S W Sangweni was awarded for Health Promotion Act and participating in the Comrades Marathon.
  • Ideal Clinic
  • Wasbank Clinic was awarded with a Platinum to be the PHC facility in Umzinyathi to do well in Ideal Clinic and Maintenance (ICRM)
