Wentworth's Monkey
Population![]()

In order to avoid reports of monkey invasions into our wards and
departments, we have introduced with the help of Ms. Gail Coetzee – a former
patient and primate conservationist, a specialized feeding programme. Ms.
Gail Coetzee, whilst a patient at Wentworth Hospital in 2000, saw the need
to establish a feeding scheme for the monkeys, as there was no reliable
source of food for these four legged darlings – thus forcing them to invade
buildings etc.
Ms. Gail Coetzee, daily undertakes the tasks of feeding these monkeys, on a voluntary basis, in the same location every day, thus reducing the risk of having hungry monkeys charging through the hospital buildings intimidating patients and visitors alike. Amazingly, the monkeys actually recognize Gail and her car, and as soon as they see her arrive, she is surrounded by her hungry eager furry little friends. “Gail should actually be congratulated for coming up with this idea, because it keeps the monkeys away from the wards and it makes them behave themselves, as they now have a menu of their own” says Mike Smith, Finance and Systems Manager of Wentworth Hospital. |
