Tongaat Community Health Centre
Tongaat Community Health Centre began as a small Primary Health Clinic with a limited package of service and a mobile health clinic providing an outreach service. The Family Planning clinic was subsequently rendered from M.G. Reddy building on Main Street, Tongaat, including a Youth Health Clinic. The health clinic was operated from what is now used as the administration block. The increase in patient load and expansion of services led to the development of more service delivery infrastructure over the years.
Tongaaat Community Health Centre is located within eThekwini district. The facility operates 24 hours a day. The facility provides a full package of outreach services, with three mobiles teams, one school health team and one family health team. The facility serves a catchment population of 93422 from ward 58, 61 and 62 of ethekwini municipality plus cross border clients from other sub-district areas.
The CHC is located next to the Tongaat bus/taxi rank.
