Umgungundlovu District Office
UMgungundlovu Health District is the seat of the Office of the Premier for KwaZulu-Natal as well as the provincial capital, Pietermaritzburg. The District provides a health service to 10% of the provincial population, amounting to 1 052 730 with 84.3% of the population being uninsured.
UMgungundlovu Health District covers an area of 9 189 square kilometres. It comprises of seven municipalities namely UMshwathi (KZ 221), Umgeni (KZ 222), Mpofana (KZ 223), Impendle (KZ 224), Msunduzi (KZ 225), UMkhambathini (KZ 226) and Richmond (KZ 227).
The UMgungundlovu Health District has been selected as a Pilot District to prepare for the implementation of the National Health Insurance (NHI).
UMgungundlovu Health District has 46 fixed clinics, 17 Mobile Clinics and 1 state aided clinic.
