Ekuhlengeni Psychiatric Hospital
Ekuhlengeni Psychiatric Hospital was established in January 1975 and the facility provides care to Mental Health Care Users (MHCU’s) suffering from chronic mental illness and who cannot be accommodated within the community due to being danger to themselves and community.
It was established by Life Care Centre and taken over by the department of Health in 2006. This facility receives MHCUs from all over KwaZulu-Natal Province.
Ekuhlengeni Psychiatric Hospital is a specialized psychiatric facility providing treatment, care and rehabilitation to mental health care users with Psychotic disorder, Mood disorders, and Personality disorders and mild to moderate intellectual disability. Gazetted bed of 965 and usable beds of 700
