Turton CHC hands over of wheelchairs to physically challenged people

Smiles were all over the faces of 10 physically challenged patients of ward 19 in Umthwalume area when they were given brand new wheelchairs by Turton Community Health Centre on 21 August 2012.
The project was initiated by Sukuma Sakhe and war room members of ward 19 and Turton CHC was happy to donate the wheelchairs. These patients were assessed by occupational therapists and physiotherapist of Port Shepstone and GJ Crooks hospitals.

Dr N Buso from Turton CHC and Mrs. N.Madikizela who is the chairperson for health, representing Turton CHC both played a major role in making this project a success. The patients were also taught how to operate these wheelchairs. It does not end there, as there are still 9 remaining patients who will get their wheelchairs.

Turton CHC would like to thank all the people that were involved in making this project a huge success including the local councilor Mr. A.E Zindela, war room members and Community Care Givers (CCG,s) etc.
