History of Phoenix CHC

Phoenix Community Health Centre officially opened its doors to the community on the 1st of February 1985. The Centre was commissioned by the Natal Provincial Administration. The CHC was handed over to Administration House of Delegates in September 1987. The CHC was providing Primary Health Care Services to the community as per arrangement provided for in the House of Delegates. The Centre marked a very good example of a one- stop shop as it provided preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative services. These services were provided by various health authorities, which included City Health Department, Natal provincial Administration and Private Welfare Organisations. It came to administration by KZNPA after the 1994 elections.

The CHC has one 8 Hour, 5 days a week Clinic attached to it (Starwood Clinic). This Clinic is situated at about 3 kilometers away from the CHC.
