Geographical Distribution Zululand District is situated in the Northern part of the Province of KwaZulu-Natal. It is neighbored by Uthungulu District in the South; Umkhanyakude District is in the North-East, Mpumalanga Province and Swaziland in the North, Amajuba District in the Northwest and Umzinyathi District in the Southwest. Zululand District has five local municipalities called Edumbe, Uphongolo, Nongoma, Abaqulusi and Ulundi. According to the STP, the district has a population of 862 108. Population per municipality Vryheid 209 070 (24%) Edumbe 88 653 (10%) Nongoma 208 061 (24%) Ulundi 225 925 (26%) Pongola 130 399 (15%) Grand Total: 862 108 100%
