The Make Me Look Like A Hospital Project (MMLLH) was initiated by the then MEC for Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo. This project emanates from the National Core Standards (NCS) which was developed by the National Department of Health.
The NCS are used to assess and measure the quality of health care services that is provided to the citizens of South Africa. These standards form the basis of a process that appraises the performance of the health establishment against a uniform set of expectations of what constitutes quality health care delivery.
There are seven domains in the National Core Standards namely:
This priority area aims to ensure that patients are treated in a caring and respectful manner by staff with the appropriate values and attitudes. This includes courtesy, empathy and tolerance by facility personnel taking into consideration the Batho Pele principles. It is also important that care is provided in a way that maximizes patient privacy. This area also covers vulnerable patients such as the mentally ill, the frail and the aged.
Patient care and safety are very crucial in health care service delivery. All health facilities/establishments are expected to have a clear structured approach managing clinical risks. Clinical management needs to ensure that there are specific safety protocols in place for high risk groups of patients. The facility’s evidence must show that adverse events are identified and promptly responded to, to reduce patient harm and suffering
This domain includes the management and support to clinical care through the timely and efficient provision of medicines, diagnostic and other clinical support services; and suitable medical technology.
Covers the active collaboration between facilities (both hospitals and PHC facilities) and relevant healthcare and other organisations and providers and with local communities to ensure an integrated and effective health care system for the catchment population, and the active contribution of all role-players in preventing illness and ensuring effective care and rehabilitation.
Covers the strategic direction provided by senior management, through proactive leadership, planning and risk management, supported by the structures of corporate governance and oversight of hierarchical support structures and includes the strategic functions of communication and quality improvement.
Covers the responsibilities required on a day-to-day basis to support and ensure the delivery of safe and effective patient care, including management of human resources, finances, assets and consumables, and of information and records
This covers the requirements for clean, safe and secure physical infrastructure (buildings, plant and machinery, equipment) and hotel services, including the safe disposal of waste, that are functional and well-managed.

The idea is that all hospitals be incorporated into the MMLLH project as this
will ensure delivery of optimal health care to all citizens of KwaZulu Natal.
UMnyango wezeMpilo uyaqhubeka nezinhlelo zokuqinisekisa ukuthi isizwe ikakhulu umphakathi waKwaZulu-Natali uthola izidingo nosizo oluseqophelweni eliphezulu ezikhungweni zeZempilo.
UNgqongqoshe wezeMpilo KwaZulu-Natali, uDkt. uSibongiseni Dhlomo, usungule umklamo i- Make Me Look Like A Hospital (Ngenze Ngibukeke Njengesibhedlela) (MMLLH). Lo mklamo usukela eMigomeni Engumongo Kazwelonke eyakhiwa uMnyango wezeMpilo kaZwelonke.
IMigomo Engumongo Kazwelonke isetshenziselwa ukuhlola nokukala iqophelo lemisebenzi yezempilo enikezelwa kubantu baseNingizimu Afrika. Le migomo yiyona eyakha isisekelo sohlelo oluhlola ukuthi kuhamba kanjani ukusebenza kwezikhungo zezempilo uma kuqhathaniswa nalokho okulindelekile ekunikezelweni kwezidingo zezempilo okuseqophelweni eliphezulu.
Ngaphansi kweMigomo Engumongo kaZwelonke kunale minxa eyisikhombisa elandelayo:
Lo munxa oseqhulwini kuhloswe ngawo ukuqinisekisa ukuthi abasebenzi basezikhungweni zezempilo baphatha iziguli ngendlela enenhlonipho nehambisana nokuzazisa kanye nomoya ofanele. Lokhu kufaka ukuba nesineke, ukuba nozwelo kanye nokubekezela kwabasebenzi ngokulandela imigomo ye-Batho Pele. Kubalulekile futhi ukuba kuhlonishwe izimfihlo zesiguli ngesikhathi sinikezwa usizo lwezempilo. Lo munxa uphinda ubhekelele neziguli ezisengcupheni njengalezo ezigula ngokwengqondo, ababuthaka kanye nasebekhulile.
Ukunakekeleka nokuphepha kweziguli kubaluleke kakhulu ekunikezelweni kwezidingo zezempilo. Kulindeleke ukuba zonke izikhungo zezempilo zibe nendlela ehleleke ngokucacile yokubhekana nezingozi zezokwelapha. Ukulawulwa kwezokwelapha kumele kuqinisekise ukuthi kunemithetho eqondile yezokuphepha elandelwayo eqondene neziguli ezisengcupheni. Ubufakazi besikhungo kumele kuveze ukuthi izehlakalo ezinobungozi zihlonzwa kusenesikhathi bese kubhekwana nazo ngokushesha ukuze kunqandwe ukulimala nokuphatheka kabi kweziguli.
Lo munxa ufaka ukulawulwa nokwesekwa kwezokunakekela kwezokwelapha ngokuhlinzeka ngemithi yokwelapha, ngemisebenzi yokuxilonga kanye neminye yokwesekwa kwezokwelapha ngesikhathi nangempumelelo; nobuchwepheshe obufanele kwezemithi yokwelapha.
Lo munxa uphathelene nokubambisana phakathi kwezikhungo zezempilo (izibhedlela nemitholampilo), izinhlangano ezinakekela ngezempilo, ezinye izinhlangano ngokunjalo nabahlinzeki bezempilo kanye nemiphakathi eyakhele lezi zikhungo ukuqinisekisa uhlelo lwezempilo oludidiyelwe nolusebenza kahle oluqondiswe emiphakathini ngokunjalo nokuqinisekisa ukuthi bonke ababambiqhaza baphonsa itshe esivivaneni ekuvikeleni izifo kanye nokuqinisekisa ukunakekeleka nokululama okuyimpumelelo.
Lo munxa uphathelene nomhlahlandlela wamasu okusebenza oklanywa abaphathi abaphezulu ngobuholi obubonakalayo, ngokuhlela kanye nokukwazi ukulawula izimo eziyingcuphe, ngokulekelelwa yizinhlaka zokubusa ngokubambisana kanye nokuqashelwa kwezinhlaka zokwelekelela ekuphatheni okufaka phakathi amasu ezokuxhumana kanye nokwenziwa ngcono kweqophelo lomsebenzi.
Kuphathelene nemisebenzi okumele yenziwe nsuku zonke ukweseka nokuqinisekisa
ukunikezelwa kosizo lwezempilo oluphephile noluyimpumelelo kwabagulayo, okufaka
ukuphathwa kwabasebenzi, ukuphathwa kwezimali, ukuphathwa kwempahla nokudliwayo,
ukugcinwa kwemininingwane kanye namabhuku.
Lokhu kuphathelene nezidingo zengqalasizinda ehlanzekile, ephephile nevikelekile (izakhiwo, imishini emikhulu kanye nemishini ejwayelekile, izinto zokusebenza) kanye nemisebenzi ephathelene nendawo yokuhlala, kufaka nokulahlwa kwemfucuza ngendlela ephephile.
Lomklamo we- MMLLH wakhelwe phezu kweminxa emine yeMigomo Engumongo kaZwelonke okuyilena: Amalungelo Eziguli, Ukuphepha Kweziguli, Ukwesekwa kwezokwelapha, Izikhungo Nengqalasizinda. UNgqongqoshe wezeMpilo KwaZulu-Natali wahlonza izibhedlela eziyi-12 (Isibhedlela esisodwa esifundeni ngasinye nezimbili eMgungundlovu) okwahlolwa ngazo lo mklamo we- MMLLH.
Mkhulu umehluko obonakele ezikhungweni eziyingxenye yomklamo we- MMLLH. Ukwenza ngcono kubonakele ikakhulu kulokhu:
