The purpose of this programme is to prepare Mental Health nurse specialist who demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in rapid assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of complex mental health conditions.
This programme will enable the nephrology nurse specialist to play a significant role in kidney health promotion, early diagnosis, treatment and prompt referral of patients with specific and complex renal problems in all clinical settings
The programme aims at producing primary care nurse specialists who will work in the challenging and demanding primary health care environments where people are cared for across life span often with numerous, multifarious and evolving health problems
The purpose of this programme is to enable the critical care nurse specialist to play a significant role in the care of the critically ill adult patients with life threatening illnesses or injuries.
The purpose of the programme is to equip perioperative nurse specialists with speciality-focused skills and knowledge to function at an advanced cognitive level within the perioperative environment.
This programme aims at enabling the orthopaedic nurse specialist to play a significant role in the preventative, promotive, curative and rehabilitative care of orthopaedic patients at primary, secondary and tertiary levels of health care.
The purpose of this qualification is to develop a specialist nurse who can demonstrate advanced knowledge, expertise and skills in eye health promotion and prevention of eye diseases, injuries, visual impairment and blindness.
The postgraduate diploma programmes are offered to in-service nurses employed by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health. They also follow a block system for theory and work integrated learning
