 Ilembe Health District is situated at KwaDukuza; it is about 75 km from Durban. The District comprises of a small urban area and a remainder being largely deep rural. The District has a population size of 617 622. Directions to Ilembe District Office

Vision: To be better than the best in achieving optimal health status and a functional District Health  System for the Community in Ilembe District.

Mission: With compassion, deliver comprehensive, integrated, co ordinated, sustainable and responsive quality health care at all levels based on the primary heath care approach through the district health system.

Core Values: Commitment to performance, courage to change/transform with honest, trust, integrity and mutual respect in an innovative, open and transparent manner.

Goals: Ensure accessible, equitable and customer oriented Health services in the whole District and at all tiers of the Government.

Objectives:

  • Provide preventive and promotive Health Care to empower customers to take responsibility for their own Health
  • Promote access of communities to all levels of health care available in the Province through an efficient, effective and acceptable referral pathway
  • Provide adequate resources in order to ensure quality care in the Health Care Facilities at all levels of care
  • Develop capacity/competencies for the prevention, early detection and management communicable emerging and re-emerging diseases in the District.
  • Develop strategies for addressing the effects of poverty on the communities.

All health institutions within Ilembe District will embark on a Vitamin A Campaign scheduled as follows:

The purpose of the campaign is to create more awareness about the Vitamin A Supplementation programme

During the Vitamin A campaign, children between 12-59 months will be issued with Vitamin A drops. Children 6-11 months will also be issued with the Vitamin A drops if they show up at sites

Venue: Hospitals, Clinics, Mobile Clinics, Tuck Shops, Supermarkets, Community Halls & Churches
Time: 07:30-16:30
